Pieter Wispelwey is among the first of a generation of performers who are equally at ease on the modern or the period cello. His acute stylistic awareness, combined with a truly original interpretation and a phenomenal technical mastery, has won the hearts of critics and public alike in repertoire ranging from JS Bach to Elliott Carter. He has released numerous recordings on the Channel Classics label, six of which garnered major international awards.
Pieter Wispelwey will be accompanied by virtuoso pianist Paolo Giacometti, who has also received many honours, including “Best Performing Dutch Musician” at the Edition Classical Music Awards 2001.
Brahms’ Cello Sonatas will be the program on this memorable evening.

However, it is as a composer that he has garnered international notoriety and taken his place among the most admired jazz guitarists in recent years, alongside Pat Metheny and John Scofield.
